MGM Grand Las Vegas is a resort and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. The MGM Grand is the largest single hotel in the United States with 5,044 rooms. It is owned and operated by MGM Resorts International It also houses numerous shops, night clubs, and restaurants.
WHAT IS THIS HR INNOVATION ABOUT?
They created a recruitment show named “Iron Chef” in order to hire the new Chef of the restaurant of the resort. The show featured an eccentric chairman who creates his own Gourmet Academy with four elite chefs who take on challengers in a specially-constructed Kitchen Arena. The contenders are given 60 minutes and a theme ingredient (called a "secret" ingredient) to create their culinary creations and they were required to prepare five dishes. The dishes were judged by four celebrity judges (none of whom are food experts or food critics), and the chef with the higher rating was declared the winner.
WHY WAS THIS INNOVATION IMPLEMENTED?

- To find the most creative Chef that could join the MGM Resorts.
WHAT ARE ITS MAIN BENEFITS?
It increased the reservations of the resort and the restaurant by more than 400% It also increased the number of applicants interested on working for the company, not only for the culinary positions but also in other departments.
