Motivation As An Added Value


Cisco is an American firm specialized in network hardware, with the aim of "providing easy access to information anywhere, at any time".

WHAT IS THIS HR INNOVATION ABOUT?

Three innovations were implemented in various HR areas, each of them having its proprer name:

- "Making a difference": Each employee is allowed to 5 days paid by the company in order to do some volunteer in the organization of their choice.

- "My Development: Time Swap/Job Swap": In order to facilitate skill transfer and internal mobility, the company offers two options to its employees. They can either "time swap" their position by exchanging 20% of their time with another employee or “job swap” roles during a period ranging 6 to 12 months.

- “Imy rewards”: Cisco also allows one extra paid holiday leave for every employee’s birthday.

WHY WAS THIS INNOVATION IMPLEMENTED?

By implementing these HR innovations, Cisco builds a new corporate culture based on mutual commitment and trust. Cisco aims at generating greater performance and enhancing productivity relying on highly motivated employees.

On an external point of view, the company also seeks to gain a competitive advantage by attracting and retaining the best talents on the market.
