Mass Hiring - 4000 Employees, 1 Day !

Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. is an American chain of fast casual restaurants in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, and France, specializing in tacos and burritos. Its name derives from chipotle, the Nahuatl name for a smoked and dried jalapeño chili pepper. The company currently trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol CMG.

WHAT IS THIS HR INNOVATION ABOUT?

The company planned a day for mass hiring , that would increase its workforce by about 6.7%. On that day, every Chipotle across the U.S. open early to be able to interview 60 applicants at each location. By broadly advertising their mass hiring event, and providing a seamless mobile application experience, Chipotle was able to pull in tens of thousands of applicants.

WHY WAS THIS INNOVATION IMPLEMENTED?

Fast food companies have been facing a shrinking pool of applicants. As the economy strengthens, workers have been looking for jobs with more benefits and higher compensation. That's led to a trend of boosting offerings to workers.

Some argue the fast food industry is meant to be a stopping point for young workers who are headed on to other jobs or industries. Chipotle's philosophy is just the opposite, the company wants its employees to stick with Chipotle and move on to higher positions.

WHAT ARE ITS MAIN BENEFITS?

Manage an enormous quantity of applications. Positive good case practice for companies that have very high goals of expansion.
